Little cosmic models – stories of acoustic telescope
(didgeridoo sound art piece with Hrvoje Niksic for SOUNDLAB 2009)
This is a story how didgeridoo sound of Dubravko Lapaine met special space sounds of Hrvoje Niksic and beyond…
We find ourselves in scale between macro and micro cosmos. The two resemble each other, but where are we in this story? Too big to touch the small one, too small to travel through the big one, we put our hopes into sound as an entity which can touch beyond sheer physical existence, to go where we can not. We believe sound can touch and describe things in a way of its essence. Our acoustic telescope is a sonic generator, a big tube, 7 meters in length, with a 60 cm opening. It produces a touching sound-probe. It is undetermined by its nature, because it is the simplest “instrument” possible, a cosmic object itself, a tube.
